Scalar Key Manager Appliance must be ordered separately if customer does not already have it installed in their environment. Scalar i2000/i6000 Partitioning Option (LSC2K-APAR-001A) is required and key-enabled drives must be in a separate partition from non-key-enabled drives. Not for use with IBM LTO-4 drives and Q-EKM license keys. Encryption Key Management Solution Installation and Configuration services are optional. Warranty/service level of key-enabled drives must match the service length and level of the library.

This upgrade enables enhanced functionality not available in a Scalar i2000, including iLayer features like Extended I/E, a streamlined firmware download process, and other software updates. In addition, Scalar i2000 systems must be upgraded to a Scalar i6000 with this kit to take advantage of the additional 'i6000-unique' upgrade options like LTO-5 tape drives and the iLayer MeDIA feature.
